To be designated a deacon by the members of Riverbluff is an honor bestowed based on the observation of people in the congregation. These men have displayed Christlikeness and have served the Body regularly and passionately. They have lived in such a way that he should be designated a “deacon”- a servant leader, a man of Christian influence.
The scriptures clearly teach that Christians are called to care for one another. A deacon at Riverbluff fills the unique role of leading this congregation to care for one another, first by modeling tangible care and then by inviting others to partner with them in that care. After being chosen as a deacon, there are a certain set of standards that must be maintained. These consist of certain regular practices or activities and personal character development.
